Shipped more than 1.800 tons at the second quarter of the Italian season. The Italo-Chilean consortium, after its participation in Fruitlogistica, keeps growing internationally, among promising markets and global problems

A satisfactory and successful edition of Fruit Logistica”, is the positive assessment of Alessandro Zampagna, Managing Director of Origine Group, the Consortium of 9 important Italian and Chilean companies.
The absence of the Chinese and a few cancellations had no visible influence – states Zampagna – there were many visitors and all our meetings were confirmed”. The interest for the activity of Origine Group, that promote overseas and to important markets its members’ fruits, is growing.
Despite the smaller crop of Italian kiwis, our sales are going very well – continues Zampagna -. From October to the 31 December we shipped 80% more kiwis compared to the previous season, a trend that was confirmed in January. We have shipped more than 1.800 tons of Italian kiwis in this first half of the season, and we hope to go on until the end of March with these numbers.
Particular success was met in the Americas, with Mexico that this year is open to the Italian kiwis and is giving good results, and the Far East. On the latter, though, the Coronavirus has changed the situation.
The Coronavirus has certainly had a terrible impact on the Chinese market, that is practically stuck, while on the other Asian markets we had no negative impact whatsoever. Fortunately we have a limited stock in China and the containers afloat can be redirected if necessary. Nonetheless, we hope that it will be not necessary and that the situation in China will soon come back to normal.” On the Asian markets Origine Group keeps marketing its high-quality brand Sweeki, that also this year is present in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malesia, Indonesia, Korea.
